In partnership with Global Empowerment Mission (GEM) — the leading global disaster relief agency, Ghetto Youths Foundation has committed to the rebuilding of 100 roofs, across three parishes. This work began in St. Elizabeth during the second week of December, and has continued throughout the holiday season and now, well into the new year. In the aftermath of the storm, we have delivered life-saving aid, performing essential roof repairs and contributing to long-term recovery efforts.
Speaking about the roof repair partnership with GYF, Michael Capponi, CEO of GEM shared “Restoring basic human needs – shelter being one of the most significant needs – is critical to repairing both the infrastructure of impacted communities and the dignity of displaced families and individuals. Working in tandem with Ghetto Youths Foundation and the Marley Family is especially meaningful because their legacy is so deeply rooted in the people and culture of Jamaica – it is only fitting that they are stepping up at this time to protect their brothers and sisters.”
